About The Barn

The Barn has been reconstructed from a centuries old Elizabethan Barn which was originally built in a Kent village and re-erected on its present site in the heart of Royal Tunbridge Wells some years ago. It has been erected in the original Kentish style with oak beams and columns throughout which creates a wonderful atmosphere.

There is also a delightful award winning courtyard garden adjoining the premises.

This lovely property has been privately owned by us for 30 years and successfully managed throughout this time by our joint General Managers, Philippe and Janet Sorak.

In addition to the excellent food and drink and great value prices we are especially proud of our very friendly staff all of which, combined with “the barn” character, setting and decor makes us a special place for a meal in our pretty air conditioned restaurant, or a drink or snack in our air conditioned rustic bar and beautiful new orangery.

You can also enjoy a drink or a bite to eat in our delightful garden which is heated for those cooler days and beautifully illuminated at night.

Free Parking

We are delighted to advise you that we now have several free parking spaces adjacent to The Barn for the exclusive use of our customers. There is no time limit whilst visiting.

Our customers can park on either side of the road leading up from the entrance of Lonsdale Gardens. Signs will show where you are able to park as a customer of The Barn. Please only park in these spaces as parking in other parts of Lonsdale Gardens is not permitted.

Parking will be monitored by NPE and they will issue parking fines to anyone parking in this reserved designated area who is not visiting The Barn.

Best Mixed Grill we have ever had!

Our first visit to The Barn and we had a lovely lunch, probably the best Mixed Grill we have ever had. Beautiful building with many different spaces to sit in , the staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was good quality and well cooked and presented. We will certainly visit again when we visit Tunbridge Wells.

Perfect venue for any time of day

This pub is beautiful and quaint and rustic. I have been for lunch and dinner in the restaurant part. Both visits were fantastic.
Such top quality meals and drinks. The loyalty card is worth getting too.

Little gem of a find

What a find. A lovely pub / restaurant with a beautiful garden.
Perfect for a summer evening. We had some drinks outside but had reserved a table upstairs in the main restaurant. The food was lovely. We had three courses from the a lq carte menu. Food is presented lovely and really tasty and hot. Service was also good.. You can eat outside and in the conservatory but you can only have the bar menu.

Will definitely be returning.

What an excellent place

Cannot say enough about this excellent place. The restaurant has a spacious feel and traditional beams for atmosphere. The food was extremely good, with extra care taken for our one coeliac guest. The ‘mocktail’ downstairs in the bar was excellent too for one of our teetotal guests. The coffees after our meal were fantastic – and great value too. The service was perfect. The table for six was ideal too, v-big enough to give us space and compact enough for us to be able to converse across it. 5* and a very strong recommendation without any hesitation.

What a gem!

The Barn is probably one of the best pubs in Tunbridge Wells. I’d like to call it a ‘four seasons pub’ – always welcoming. And always a seat. (do not sit on my seat in the orangey though)

Superb food at a affordable price Lovely Starter Great steak main course and a lovely Irish coffee to finish evening off superb selection of food from starters to dessert would recommend to anyone
